what i'm thinking...
My idea is to look at what my summer was like through the eyes of these American Romantics. I will touch on some hikes, work, and some other things that I think might be interesting to look at while taking these intellectuals' viewpoints. I don't think it will be too hard because their beliefs are much like mine, I'm really excited to start this paper!

This is a nice start will, I like your idea about what you are going to connect your experiences with the trancendentalists. Maybe you could have three diffrent experiences with each trancedentalists. Good start William DuPont.
ReplyDeleteI like this idea but what do you think you could build off of this? Are you going to use all three writers points of view or chose one? Do you remember a specific hike maybe of your own that you could copy? Maybe a hike where you truely felt one with nature...? Emerson's thoughts could be within your brain? I don't know. Just some possible ideas to enlongate your essay.

ReplyDeleteWhat if you had one transcendentalist rip on one thing, like working (why should you do what someone else tells you to, why conform to that other persons wishes and ideas about what is important?), and maybe have another one try to defend it using the same person's ideas? Like if Emerson was ripping on something, then Whitman tries to come the rescue by using Emerson's ideas against him, or his trying to. Just a thought, but it could add some more humor if that's what you want to go for. +shrug+
